My name is Sirena (rhymes-ish with hyena. And misdemeanour, if you’re British.) I’m a freelance journalist based in London.
I’ve previously worked at the The News Hub, The Guardian, Mental Floss, the Times Educational Supplement and a smattering of random content companies, including one particularly fun gig which involved writing about Viagra and STIs, mostly. Long story.
I’ve guest lectured at City University, talking about new content platforms and journalism in a digital age, been on various panels including Consented’s The state of the British media, and spoken at a number of events including London’s Modern Journalism Meetup and Enterprise Nation’s Small Business in the Media. I was also a guest at the fantastic podcast Media Focus, discussing free magazines, content publishers and the future of media advertising.
I’d love to hear from you if you have a great story you think deserves to be told, if you know of a cool event you think I might be up for getting involved in, or if you’re looking for a writer to hire. Here are some of the things you can pay me to do:
- News and feature writing
- Shift and freelance work: editing, commissioning and subbing
- Native/Commercial content: pitching, editing, commissioning and writing
- Copywriting and editing: marketing content, site copy, corporate blogs and whitepapers
- Proofreading: Of any sort. I can spot a bad subordinate clause like no one else.
